I’m always looking for healthy snack alternatives. I try to give my son protein along with his fruit. Here’s a perfect combination! My toddler’s current obsession is being Mr. Independent so I let him dip his own apples. The crimson gold miniature apples I found at the store is the perfect size (see the photo on the right for size comparison).
We use also use silicone divided plates so he doesn’t have 3 separate bowls to throw on the ground! They’re non-toxic and we use them daily.
Tip: If you can’t find the small apples you can use a melon roller and just scoop small pieces out. PLEASE be very mindful of your child’s age as it may be a choking hazard. You can also cut it up into thin circular chips for younger kids.
- Popsicle sticks or skewers
- Peanut butter
- crushed almonds
- Wash apples and poke a stick or skewer into the apple
- Dip in peanut butter manually or use a butter knife
- Dip in almonds
