The Perfect Soft Chocolate Chip Cookie

My favorite dessert of all time is a warm chocolate chip cookie. Add walnuts to it and a glass of milk and I’m an extremely happy camper. I’ll make this short and sweet so I can go eat my chocolate chip cookie ;). By the way, this is a treat. I don’t give much sugar to my toddler, but once in a while he gets the real thing! Chocolate Chip Cookie Resize


  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter (12 tbs) (softened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 ripe banana (if you don’t want to use banana, make it 3/4 cup of white sugar and 3/4 c. of brown sugar, and 2 sticks of butter)
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 375f
  2. Cream sugars, butter, egg, mashed banan and vanilla in a large bowl
  3. Add flour, salt, and baking soda
  4. Mix in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts
  5. Using a scooper or spoon out balls of cookie dough
  6. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake 8-10 minutes until golden. The trick is to not overcook it. Check at 8 minutes to see if it’s browned around the edges. Flip it over and if it’s a medium brown, they’re done!
  7. Allow to cool on a cooling rack
